A friend of ours went to a library sale and picked up this book for our daughter, because she knew that our daughter is very much interested in cars. We got it shortly before Anna turned 18 months, and we took this book with us on cross-country trip to Florida, since we hoped to keep her occupied. Children just learning the denominations of various coins and dollar bills may find something new in this story, but it wouldn't be my first choice to introduce the subject. There is also a restaurant menu with prices that could potentially be used as a teaching tool.

| We LOVE this hilarious book! My husband and I read it together for our 1 year-old son (I usually read the Pookie part) and it cracks us up every time. When my son is upset and getting fussy, simply reciting the 1st few lines of the book will often calm him down. This is a family favorite and we highly recommend it. |

| Do you like pig books? If you do you will like Olivia and The Missing Toy by Ian Falconer. I like this book because I think its funny.
It's about a pig that is named Olivia. In the story Olivia the pig puts her doll down on her bed, looks away, then looks back and it is gone. She looks and does not find it. I'm not going to tell you more so go pick it up at a store near you and find out what happens. You will be surprised who took her doll. |

| Scaring people is fun. There is really no getting around this fact. Kids know this better than anyone. Mo Willems knows that kids know this better than anyone. And now he's gone and written a book about it. | My 3.5yo daughter absolutely loves this book. She will recite a line from it to me and we'll go back and forth "playing out" the story. I just mention "there's a bird on your head!" and she will fall into fits of giggles.
My 2yo son was not as interested (though if it doesn't have construction trucks or diggers, etc, he's not interested either). I think as he gets older he will appreciate the humor and story. | My son loves the whole Elephant & Piggie series. In fact, these books are what taught him to read at age 4. They are repetitive and use short, easy words. Plus, they are hilarious. My son wants to read them each night. "I Love My New Toy" was just as funny as the rest of the ones we have. Mo Willems is the best children's author out there, in my opinion. We have all of his books, and they get read repeatedly. The whole family enjoys them when they are read aloud. |
