| This book contains some language that is hard for my 5 year old to understand--lots of dialect. But the story is good and there are a fair number of black and white pictures. |

| My seven year old daughter and I finished this book last night. She was very sad to have it end. What a wonderful account of the devastating storm that hit the islands of Assateague and Chincoteague and the relief efforts to rebuild the islands and the devastated wild pony population. It was very heartwarming to read in the epilogue excerpts from actual letters of children that sent in their hard earned money to buy back the ponies sold at previous Pony Penning Days to replenish the wild herds of Assateugue. ... | This is a very fine collection of Ms. Henry's books. One of my very favorite books as a child was "King of the Wind" and it was because I was looking it up that I found this collection. For anyone, young or old, who wants to enter into the wonderful, and magical world created by a well-crafted story, these three books will take the reader, and transport her/him into the lives of Agba, Joel Goss, and Paul and Maureen Beebe, and the horses that meant the world to them. | I read one CW Anderson book when I was a horse-crazy girl. Now I'm a horse-crazy middle-aged women. I was thrilled to find my original favorite book available on Amazon.com and enjoyed the wonderful pictures and sweet stories so much that I'm buying the whole series. Great books for kids - and wonderful books for those of us still "kids at heart" when life was simple and all you wanted to do was gallop your magic pony across the fields. |

| I never read a heck of a lot of Margueirite Henry, but this was one I read over and over again as a child. Henry takes on a distinctly more human view point as she deals with a very human woman who falls in love with the beauty of the wild horses and is horrified at their treatment and fate. It's inspiring for all people who want to change the world or at least save a few animals and Henry's passion for horses is evident. Great book. |

| I had owned this book when I was a kid. I loved it because it gave you so much information about the different breeds of horses and the pictures were wonderful for me to look at back then. I bought this book because I don't know what happened to the original and it made me sad. Out of nostalgia for the past experience I had when I had the book as a kid, as an adult, I wanted the book back.
