| I bought this at my son's preschool book fair when he was 4 1/2. While he loved it, I found my daughter, then 2 1/2, REALLY loved it and it immediately became a favorite. We have read it over and over, always enjoying it and quoting from the book (especially when I make cookies!). My daughter never fails to laugh when Alfie's mustache falls off. | Lyle is just so nice. Unfortunately, some people - and cats - are irrationally terrified by crocodiles. Seriously, what gives?
He scares his neighbor's cat so much that his neighbor arranges to have him sent to the zoo. Where he's miserable. But then his heroism - saving neighbor and cat from a fire - rescue him and all is well in the world again. Very similar to Lovable Lyle, another book in the series. | It is a great book very well done but...... my 4 year old daughter liked the story unfortunately, now she is scared to go to sleep because she thinks there is an aligator, that mommy and daddy cant see, under her bed. This is no fault of the book but teachers need to prepair parents for possible fallout. |

| I bought this book for my daughter in anticipation of seeing a musical adaptation of it at my favorite Chicago theatre, Lifeline--which was to be our daughter's first-ever play. The book is very cute w/ humorous details adults can enjoy as well. And even though most of the plot of the play turned out to be from a different book in the series, my daughter easily recognized Lyle in the play and enjoyed it. We've since borrowed other books in the series from the library and she really enjoys them. |

| After buying & loving Ella Elephant Scats Like That, we ordered Miles the Crocodile. My daughter loves the book and the CD! It's always playing in my car and isn't as cheesy as most children's music. We'll definitely buy more of the Baby Loves Jazz series. |

| We all know Dahl has a bit of a mean streak, and his humor is sometimes pointed even if children don't always get it. But this illustrated edition modulates those Dahl tendencies with delightfully comic illustrations, which go a long way to putting in context Dahl's dialogue and subject matter. My eight-old and I read this over a few days, and we both enjoyed every minute. |

| If you have a child between 3 and 8, you should buy this book. The late, great James Marshall (Edward was a pseudonym) had the rare ability to tell a story using easy-to-read words, but still with genuinely surprising and humorous twists. This book's ending is a brilliant twist, which I will not spoil here. If you don't have a child the right age, you should buy this anyway, but you may have to think of an excuse. | As usual with the books of James Marshall, the combinations of the words and the silly pictures make this a very funny book. Fox lose his big part in the class play, is afraid to go down a slide for a fire drill, and is left in charge of the class by Miss Moon. |
