| I used to work with children's books, and have probably tried 100 books out with my 2 1/2 month old. This is the only book she LOVES to look at that doesn't have moving parts. Sure, she likes to listen to other books, but this is the one that is visually exciting to her. I can prop it up for her to look at and she keeps staring, transfixed, even as I go run to get the phone or whatever. | This book captivated my 2.5 month old as soon as he layed eyes on it. He was just kinda looking around when I placed it infront of him and the images immediately captivated his attention. My 2-year old also likes to "flash" the pages for his brother. It helps involve my toddler when I'm focusing on my newborn. There is definitely some neuro pathways forming when "reading" this book! |

| This is such a fun book that teaches children to look around their world for objects and shapes. Another one my children love is 'What Is Round?' |

| Another great black and white book! It's okay to have variety. Maybe baby is content to see the same images over and over but will appreciate variety soon enough as they get older. Different black and whites make it interesting for mami and siblings too! A great buy. My 2 year old likes to "flash" the pages for his brother. Even my toddler can tell that he can get the baby's attention with "reading" to him. |

| My son got this book as a birthday gift and can't put it down. He's four with a speech disorder but something about this simple concept has helped him read! To get new words out of him is a treat in itself. Now he's yelling "stop sign" when we are out driving. Just today he looked at the picture for "Railroad Crossing" and not only said it but then said "Train Choo Choo". Bringing the concept of what that sign means with the actual object. | While the photos are characteristically good--colorful and bright, the answers are not evident on every page. There is a good idea behind this book but the presentation will frustrate many young readers. A sixth grader at my library found it confusing. This is not one of Hoban's best. |

| I purchased this book for my 15 month old as a 'down the road' book because it was recommended in the book 'Toddler 411'. Surprisingly, this book is a current favorite and she is actually saying 'a', 'b', '2' etc. Does she get the concept? I don't think so, but she's connecting the way a letter or number looks to its name (much like she does with other objects). The graphics are clear.
