| We borrowed this book from the library and I found myself reading it to my son one day when he was upset and needed distracting. He was quickly drawn into the story. I had him participating in the story telling, something he doesn't commonly do. I would ask him I wonder who is next and from the small picture in the border he could figure out what animal was coming next. After the story was over we got out the globe and found the Ukraine and talk a bit about how its different there.

| What a wonderful book! The illustrations are breathtakingly georgous and intricately detailed as is typical of all Jan Brett's books. The story of the Gingerbread Baby is a surprising and delightful retelling of the classic story. My children and I loved this book! |

| This is a great multicultural adaptation of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I would definitely use this book with children from Preschool to Second grade. Comparing this story to the original would be a great activity for the kids to do. The illustrations are wonderful. I highly recommend this book. |

| The 5-star reviews for this book ignore the fact that Jan Brett's illustrations are Hollywoodesque and distracting from the classic poem itself. Betraying the golden rule -- If it isn't broken, don't fix it -- Brett inserts in to additional characters. Nearly a third of the book features two unnamed elves who play with the toys and generally cause havoc on the roof as Santa fills the stockings.

| My 3-year-old loves this book and so do I. I've been reading it to her for over a year and it's always been a favorite. It has great illustrations and a clever, original story. |

| This is a great entertaining book. With each new page, and what that page revealed, my 5 year old's eyes got bigger and bigger! Fantastic imagination that grips the reader, and keeps her interested. I especially like the illustration of geography of my home country Norway. I loved explaining this on a real map for my daughter, and she was amazed by it all. |
