| When I originally heard about this series, I was like cool another Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But instead there is this insipid girl risking her life for so called love. The casual way she risk her life is misleading and dangerous, I was totally underwhelmed. I literally read the book out of stubborness and boredom but I was repulsed by the simpleness of Bella. To me it seems to encourage suicide. |

| I read this book over a year ago because of a review I read somewhere. It is so full of texture, of the grinding machine that is war, with the little bleeps of love and beauty that keep people plodding along. It is a wonderful book. I still think about it a year later and I immediately ordered his other 2 books. I read voraciously and this is a gem. The characters are so surprising and real. | Rather than review the book, which I find to be generally outstanding and a satisfying end to the series, I'd instead like to review Jim Dale's reading of it.
This is my second "reading" of The Deathly Hallows, but my first foray into audiobooks. I thought it would be good filler during a road trip and beach vacation when I would be unable to actually pick up a book. Now home from that trip, I can't stop listening to it. | I bought this for my daughter at 18 mos based on the reviews. She loves books. This was an instant favorite. From the moment she picks it up she is smiling in anticipation of what is to come. She is now turning 2 this month and still it is her favorite book. She likes to fill in the blank for you when you read it to her. | I bought this book because my daughter bought one at her school for "us" when she was very young(separated because of divorce), it was lost in a move and it had sentimental value for both of us...it's not "the one" she bought, but it's just as good and in great condition. |

| I thought that this series (speaking to the first three books) was good. However, I felt like there was no way for it to stand the test of time (not even 5 years). The way the mother daughter team wrote was throwing in too many modern references. It went through my head that the mom probably sat down and wrote the main story and then handed her daughter the manuscript and from there her daughter just plugged in parenthesis with some modern day reference. | This is a solid pick in my boys' bedtime reading collection.
I've found the trick to reading this book at bedtime is to tackle it as one long sentence with breathless pacing, punctuated by exasperated gasps and groans. My kids giggle with delight as Alexander grumps through his day, complaining about every perceived slight or wound as though their sum could prove to be fatal.
