| I am eight years old and the book is great is for any child to read.
I really enjoyed reading the book. I definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys humorous books. Sometimes I couldn't put the book down because it was so interesting and I really wanted to find out what was happening next. My older sister, who is 11 years old also loved the book. | Well, heck, I did not expect this book to be as cute as it was. I'm thinking " a dog, wow." But amazingly a story about a puppy with barking difficulties can hold its own, especially when Feiffer keeps up the energetic pace to explain George's condition. It's offbeat and hilarious. |

| I just brought this book home and my 2.5yo daughter and I loved it! We picked up the audio CD version and I was surprised to see my daughter enthralled on the first read since she usually needs to warm up to the longer books. The premise of the story was so perfect in that it echoed the child in all of us. "I" lost my bear --- and haven't we all lost something as kids? And something so incredibly dear? | My 2 1/2-year-old grandson, Max,loves this book and has been climbing up his father ever since we read it to him. I recommend it to all toddlers everywhere, especially those with tall fathers. The best part is the page that open upwards to be twice as tall as the rest of the book!

| I bought this book for my son to memorize for an Oral Language festival his school was having. When he gave his oral report on this book he understood better about the fears he has. This book goes through most of the fears children have, that we adults have forgotten about. Not only did we laugh about the fears, we were reminded of how we felt being a child and "being hugged by someone we didn't like." | My mother read this book to me when I was young; now I'm in college and it's still one of my favorite books. It's a wonderful story with great characters. At the end, I always feel like my heart is filling up and overflowing. I can't recommend this book highly enough. |

| Feiffer delivers a fantastic and laugh-inducing tale in this comic-book-come-alive adventure. The hero of the story attempts to escape his mother's nagging about chores by writing himself into a comic book. Simply writing the word "meanwhile.." transports him to the deck of a pirate ship, to the action-packed Old West and to outer space. But danger awaits in every new storyline and there are only so many "meanwhiles" to carry him away. This is a great laugh-along read-aloud and a good pick for young reluctant readers.
