| This should actually be called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Book ... It was given to my daughter as a gift. As I was reading it to her, my husband popped his head in the room and asked "What are you reading?!" Alexander has such a bad attitude -- why would we want to introduce such a book to our child who has a sunny, bright disposition? | This is a must-have for going through the Story of the World series. My favorite part is the "continued reading" recommendations. I'd suggest not trying to do all the activities. We started out that way and it was taking forever.
I do have her do the map exercises for every chapter and try to read at least one of the recommended books (often a fairy tale/myth/legend picture book about that time/culture). When she's very interested in a chapter, we'll spend more time and do a project or two and read ... Read More: |

| I spent years studying Latin and wanted to introduce my children, who are 5 and 7, to the language. Minimus (book and cd) has my children talking to each other in Latin in less time than it took me to learn those first two declensions and first two conjugations all those years ago by the more traditional methods!!! -Another benefit of the book is that it illustrates parts of speech in a clear, simple,and fun manner. |

| I borrowed this book from a friend who also homeschools and I'm glad I did before purchasing it. I started skimming through it and saw so many (authors)opinions that I didn't even consider wasting my time reading the book thoroughly. When I read that "Nero was the worst emporer in the history of Rome" and that the "Romans HATED Jesus", I was really put off by the opinionated views, as well as the negativity. | I was so excited when I came across these 'research guides' in a used book store, they are a wonderful addition! My kids have enjoyed the series so much, but the books are a little young for some fans, but they love getting the research guide to deepen their understanding of the settings and get good background information. With the summer Olympics upcoming, I made sure to have this research guide available before school ended. |
