| From a teacher and graduate student's view point, I thought this was an awesome book. It was full of adventure and suspense. Skeet was on a mission and he was going to let nobody stop him. I think this would be an awesome book to use as a teacher read aloud and/or used as a "cliffhanger" activity. His Memaw added a touch of humor to the story which made it even better. Finally, the end had a surprising twist to it and one that I wasn't expecting. This was a very fun story to read. |

| Lee is a lonely little boy dealing with his parents' divorce. He begins a correspondence with his favorite author, Mr. Henshaw. This letter writing helps Lee understand himself better.
I read this to my classes every year when we are learning about letter writing. It is a powerful novel that kids can relate to. |

| Charlie Anderson is a wonderful book that should be in every elementary school library and in the home of every child who has parents who don't live together. Charlie Anderson is a cat, who like the little girls in the story has two homes, two beds, and two families who love him. |

| I read the book to my two children and they simply looked at me and said ..."bears don't get divorced!" I think it is unrealistic and they're aren't any coping tools to resolve issues the PARENTS often create for the children after divorce or separation. It is cute but they seemed to have a hard time identifying with bears getting divorced. |

| Gary Paulsen "paints with words" as he writes a descriptive story about a fifteen year old boy contending with his parent's divorce. This book is rivoting. The reader wants to read on as a young boy learns through discovery about how to survive in the Canadian wildernes. I read this book to my students and they were lined up in the library to check out Gary Paulsen books. Gary Paulsen writes passionately with no holes barred, which is what makes the story believable, exciting and compelling. |

| I have been a big fan of Mike Lupica the author for quite sometime now since, Travel Team and I love this book. At some points it can lose it's luster but it is a great piece of literature. Billy Raynor is a ten year old basketball player who has suddenly been thrust into the position of man of the house when his jerk of a father leaves. This book takes you through the thoughts of a ten year old and is true to the way ten year olds think. This is a great read for kids of any age. |

| I dislike many elements of these book, particulary the divorce of Julie's parents. I know divorce is common, and was common back in the 1970's, but I still hate it. They attempt to send a message that Julie finds a new way of being a family and it makes her stronger, but I hardly find that to happen in real life! Divorce shatters kids, it can ruin thier lives, especially when thier parents try to act as if the family can be normal again. Family's are only truly normal when they stick to the old values, the values America was built on.
