| My DH is using this and other books for a science and gadget class with 10 K-2 kids. He likes this book as the experiments are easy and fast paced enough to keep the kids' attention, a real issue with this bunch.

| The reason I didn't give this book five stars, is because I feel that if a child is old enough to read, the "math" would be too simplistic. For my four year old, it was great. I found it a clever way to introduce the concept of size and weight in an engaging story, (a bigger thing can be lighter, more can be lighter than less, etc). It is a cute book and worth having, but I just don't get, what I perceive to be, a mismatch of ability levels presented. By the time my child is reading, I'd hope for more difficult ... Read More: |

| I have to say, I would have given up on this book except that my daughter never lets me do that. (I was reading it to her, she's seven).
I'm glad I stuck with it because the second half of the book rewards the reader with a faster-paced story and satisfyingly complex characters for a book at this level. NOTE: Don't dismiss the one-star review here by C. Butterfield. S/he makes some very valid points. I also cringed at the mean mockery of Elsie, the the fat girl, but I, instead, gave DeClements credit for the realism ... Read More: |

| Not a bad book, but not outstanding either. I kept wanting to know more and the ending was predictable and bland. I would tell my fellow ED friends to give it a read, and any parent of a teen with an ED should read it as well, but it is very "junior high" in its language and tone. |

| i have read this book dozens of times and still not tired of it i dunno it is the greatest book ever its funny its just really good Robert Kimmel Smith did a really good job writing this book such a great book it has the charctar Ned who goes to this fat camp(camp lean too) and meets some other freinds(richard etc.) and they find ways to get candy and other snacks and his grandma doesnt care if hes fat and encourages him to eat what he wants will ned get caught stealing candy will he lose the weight read the book for yourself and hey a sweet deal of 5 bucks ...
