This book was brilliant. It made me want to be a writer. It is of the Harry Potter persuasion (written for young adults/adults will enjoy), but of vampires and better. I devoured this book and the following 2 in the series in days. I can't wait for the fourth to come out August 2, 2008 and the movie made from this first book in December 2008.

One issue: It is not very clear the order of the books, so be sure to read Twilight first, New Moon second, Eclipse third and Breaking Dawn ... Read More:

Our pediatrician recommended this book during my daughter's 10-year-old regular check up. My daughter has been reading it without much prompting. It's a good overall book for this age range. It is what I expected.

My 2 sons, ages 8 and 10, LOVED this book. They actually fought over it, since they both wanted to read it at the same time. Fighting over a book? This never happens at my house. Sure, they fight over the computer or Wii, or whose turn it is to feed the dog... but a book? Usually they argue with me why they don't need to read...Anyways, while they were reading the book, both of them shared some highlights with me and they were very funny. Of course, they refused to share any with me for this review, so you will just have ... Read More:

I read this book the first time as an adult (late 20's). I remember it was a popular summer reading book back when I was in school. Everyone I know who has read it said it was good, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

From the very first chapter, it had a spooky, ominous feel to it. It was a bit confusing during the first chapter, because it's set in a different world, and even a futuristic setting. The author quickly explains everything you need to know to understand this new world, but it doesn't make it any less ... Read More:

I never know whether my son will like a book that I choose for him, or whether he would discard the book and return to his favorit addiction - his Nintendo DS. Diary of a Wimpy Kid arrived when I was at my office, and I gave him permission to open the Amazon package in that I knew what was inside. By the time I arrived home from my office, my son had not only begun reading the book, but he had actually finished the book!! His sitter stated that he pushed aside his video games and his Wii to read the book, cover to cover!! ... Read More:

I love the Greek Mythology It's a great change from fairy stories. Its a different kind of magic. I have read all the books in this series except the 4th book I am still getting to that one. I love how the main character is not Hercules. Percy Jackson is a new kind of Hero.

Compared to the first 3 books in the Clique Summer Series, I expected this book to be quite boring. It turns out I was wrong. This book is very enjoyable and will be something that you do not want to put down until you finish the whole book! I will say one little thing that is in this book, Kristin finally meet a very cute and nice boy!

I was disappointed with Deathly Hallows. The book for the most part is an engaging and entertaining read, but I felt the ending was a letdown. JK Rowling has shown herself over the course of the previous six books to be a master of the surprise twist, of taking the expected, the conventional, and standing it on its head; in comparison, the conclusion here feels flat and cliche to me. After having raised my hopes in book 6 (Half-Blood Prince), Hallows brought me right back to where I was at the end of book 5 (Order of the Phoenix): ... Read More:

I love the pictures in this book. They are clear and appealing to the toddler. The bad rhythm and rhyming structure, though, is jarring. In addition, the book focuses on failure a lot more than success. The baby keeps trying to go on the potty and things just don't work out for him. He finally does in the end, but I get the sense that it makes the process seem a little scary.

It only took me one day to read Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian. When this happens, it's because the book is so good and engrossing I don't want to put it down. This book is heartbreaking and joyful and hopeful! It's the story of Junior, a Spokane Indian, that transfers from his reservation high school to an all-white high school in a nearby town. He receives grief from both sides but ends up finding the hope he has always wanted and needed. Junior goes through a lot of life-changing events during his first ... Read More:
