| This was the first Lyn Hamilton book I have read, and I found it to be interesting and a quick read. I enjoyed the scenes and action taking place in China, but I thought the book could have been more detailed about China and the sites there. It was interesting to read how the Chinese are trying to retain their artifacts. |

| I just finished this book and I've got to say it was the most sincere and vivid book I have read in a long time. Readers with open mind will greatly enjoy "Obasan" and will be glad that they bought it. I strongly recommend this book.
PS I, just like others, read this book for school. It is very important that children understand this book because it hides a lot of life lessons among its pages. Maybe if every single kid read this book, history wouldn't repeat itself. |

| I thought that this was a great book for kids in 6th grade because we learn about Canadians and WW2. I felt sorry for Sara Warren because she is trapped inside feeling like she has to choose between Mr.Ito and her family because of the War. This is a wonderful book for our time going through the war against Iraq. The front cover is all ready a great description of the book. |

| The author tells his story of being the first Canadian to climb Mt. Everest. He talks a lot about his determination and will to do more than his best, and ends the book with a very positive message. My 6-yr-old son is really into Mt. Everest, so we bought this for a birthday present. Both he and his 8-yr-old sister (who is sick of hearing her brother talk endlessly about Mt. Everest) were totally engrossed in Laurie's story.
