| As a father of a 3-year old girl and another on the way, I'm concerned that our culture "tells" young girls that their worth is dependent on what other people think about how sexually attractive you are. But sports seems to be one way that women can feel good about their bodies without having to worry about what others think about how they look.

| This book is short, which is great when you are running late for bedtime. More importantly, it's a lot of fun. The basic story is of the grandkids trying to scare Grandpa that all the animals have gone crazy on the farm. Grandpa, knowing that it's Aprill Fool's Day, makes the appropriate concerned noises, but his actions clearly show he is not fooled. | My son demands that I read him lots of books and it always makes me happy when he picks this one out. Its great fun to read. I think I enjoy it more than he does. You can really get into the rhyme and rhythm trying new ways each time you read it. The story is funny as well. I've probably read it a hundred times and haven't gotten sick of it yet. |

| While babysitting my young next-door neighbors, I read "Fluffy: Scourge of the Sea" to them, about a year or so ago. These two little boys liked it, laughing out loud - but I LOVED it; I actually found it to be more sophisticated (and hysterically funny) than the author may have intended. Certainly, Fluffy teaches the pirates a thing or two, in memorable fashion, but the rhymes and illustrations are appealing to adults, if for nothing more than sheer entertainment value.
