| I'm a fan of Stephen King's work, and I'm particularly pleased that he is so devoted to the short story form. Some of his anthologies -- NIGHT SHIFT, SKELETON CREW, and EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL -- are really first rate, some of the best speculative short stories you will ever read.

Having grown up in the naive period when we were inculcated with the notion that elected officials looked out for us regular people, it is hard to shake some of that naivete unless it's in print and in front of my eyes. And this book does an outstanding job at educating people in the subversion of the democratic process from within. However...I think when the definitive book on the George W. | This book, while nowhere near as good a read as "From Potter's Field" or even "Postmortem", still shows that Cornwell's a decent writer of thrillers. Here, Scarpetta is pitted against a religious cult with plans to take over a nuclear reactor and destroy the world. It's a plot that would better serve James Bond, but Cornwell keeps the forensic science up to date. There's an annoying investigator who gets on Scarpetta's nerves (but there's one of them in nearly every book) but he's easily dispatched. |

| Each world is a universe; Each mind is its own. Danticat made me understand this. Each new chapter brings something new to the story. I also loved the idea of chapters being written in short story form. Danticat is a genius, and through her I understood Haiti. I had first hand experiences, through this book, of how haitian lived or live nowadays. |

| This book sheds light on not only the very powerful Empress of China, but to China as well. I found this story to be highly interesting and thought provoking as a concubine moves through the stages of power to become the most powerful woman in Chinese history. I would recommend this book, and will definitely read it again in the future. |
