This remarkable book is simply magical. Being able to lie in bed, cuddled next to a trusted grownup and explore the magic of the dark is a memorable and thrilling experience for children aged 4 to infinity! Not only does the book tell a lyric tale of an imaginary battle between the raven and the jackal, it tells it with the most wonderful vehicle of shadows on the ceiling! The story reassures children that what goes "bump in the night," may be nothing more than your window shade!

I was rather surprised how little I actually enjoyed this book given all the other marvelous reviews. I think it was the style in which it was written, it just never flowed easily for me with its "Elizabethan cadence" and the quoted poetry. And I really couldn't like the hero; regardless of how remorseful he was for how he treated the heroine it just wasn't enough considering all he put her through. I liked the heroine a bit better, although she, too, wore on me as the book went along. Yet aficionadas ... Read More:

I really enjoy Jane Feather's books, and this one didn't dissapoint. I liked that all the other author's used the main theme of the book really well. I even found a few new author's I want to check out. This was a quick fun read that I have lent out to several people who all enjoyed it like me.

Books : Lord of Enchantment
Ms. Robinson contiues her stories set in Elizabethan England with Lord of Enchantment. Morgan St. John is a dark and mysterious hero to whom we were first introduced in Robinson's Lady Valiant. Of all the books in the series, Lord of Enchantment is my least favorite. I like the heroine, Pen Fairfax, who is unique and unusual without being annoying, and the hero was dreamy. As is the norm with Ms. Robinson's works, the writing was excellent. I am not the biggest fan of a romance in which one party has amnesia, which ... Read More:

And totally agree with her comments. It's well written with solid plots and intrique. The "romance" is cute but minimal and could have easily been strengthened.Hence the 4* rating instead of 5*. Overall a good, enjoyable read.
