| I spent the past weekend soaked in Sherman Alexie. It was a pleasure to find out about Sherman Alexie (through his interview on KUOW's Weekday program). I really loved his short story collection Ten Little Indians. The stories reflect acute, honest observation of life, specifically from an Indian point of view. He doesn't sugar coat any flaws of Indians, or for that matter any other American. | The stories in this collection are an interesting view of what it can be like to have one foot in Indian country and the other in the white man's world. While this bunch isn't as touching as Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in the Sky, it's still well written and compelling. |

| After reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian last summer, I decided to work my way through Alexie's oeuvre since I had already also read and enjoyed Reservation Blues. Two short story collections and one novel later, I was done. Not in that my task was completed but in that I couldn't take anymore. | I wish all the pieces in this book ended like the piece "Split Decision". "When the bell rang at the end of the fight after Joe Frazier had floored Ali with a left hook you must remember that Muhammad Ali was still standing he stood up."
