| An Honor Book for 2005, "Whittington" is, at the very least, worthy of this placement. (The 2005 Newbery Award Book is "Kira-Kira," a book I have not read and cannot make a comparative judgment.)

| My kids absolutely love this book. Every year when it's time for Christmas books to come out, this is the first one they want to hear, and they want to hear it almost every night, sometimes twice. It also answered a lot of my own questions about how someone like Santa got started in his particular line of work. |

| This book is best for 4th graders and up. The stories are good to use for inferencing and questioning strategies. The length of the stories are perfect for those brief times when I need a meaningful filler activity in my classroom. Good stories to enjoy before bedtime or as class read alouds. |

| I ordered this book for my son, who loves science, because I loved the adult version so much.
It is a fantastic abbreviation. Mark Kurlansky was brilliant to make compelling but clear kids' versions of his already excellent publications! |

| The book sunwing was a great read, intense and freighting usually sequels aren't as good as the first book. But in this case the book sunwing and silverwing were both great! The book sunwing is about the mission finding his father continuing from the first book. Silverwing Shade and Marina with their colony are looking for shades father. | I got this for my 2 year old granddaughter who loves books. So far it has been a big hit. I am hoping that when she learns to read, she will be able to read it herself. The pictures are very good at telling the story and there are many opportunities to count and discuss what is happening. The words are simple and repetitive which she likes. Mom, Great Grandma and I have all read it to her and all have enjoyed her reactions to the predicament of the yellow fish. |
