As a reader of The Pigman, I thought it was a very good book. I really loved the way that it was narrated. It was humorous at some points when John and Lorraine would switch off chapters. They would always correct the previous writer on something they said about each other. I thought it was clever and it kept my attention for the whole book.

The story and characters in The Pigman were very believable in my opinion. It was about two sophomores in high school that were doing things ... Read More:

The author of Gamma Rays (Paul Zindel) was my science and chemistry teacher on Staten Island (in the 60's). He was a hilarious teacher and would set off experiments, run out of the classroom and lock us in, and there we would be all alone, thinking the classroom was going to explode. He was also in charge of our high school's annual science fair. The winner of our science fair for 3 years' running was an exhibit titled "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Marigolds" and I always wondered if this play was about ... Read More:

Driven by guilt John and Lorraine, from Zindel's first novel The Pigman, make one final trip to Mr. Pignati's house. To their surprise the house is not abandoned but seems to be secretly occupied by another old man. Who is he and what is he doing there? Motivated by their usual curiosity John and Lorraine just have to start up a conversation with him.

This is one of the weakest of Zindel's social realism novels. It is basically all over again without the originality of style and plot, ... Read More:

Meanwhile can Maggie and Dennis learn to communicate enough to stay together?

This book is Paul Zindel's second and was first published way back in 1969. Life has changed since then, such as the ... Read More:

Books : The Pigman and Me (Bantam Starfire Books)
The Pigman and Me is an autobiography of the life of Paul Zindel. This book consists of the many experiences of his teenage years living in Travis, Staten Island, New York. My personal favorite part of this book is the relationship between Paul and his Pigman, Nonno Frankie. Paul ends up learning a countless number of things from Nonno Frankie including the secret to life. I usually don't like to read non-fiction books, but this was really amazing. The truth in this book is much more interesting than what you would find in a ... Read More:

I thought the book the book was great! I like the way PC and Mackenzie solved the murder. I also liked the way they got the clues and figured out who murdered Professor Dunaway. I like mysteries because they keep you wondering what will happen next and I like to try and solve the mystery myself.

Interesting plot and riveting writing style. A great quick read for all ages. I've read this book at least three times now. There is a great mix of dialogue, combat, and humor to keep things interesting. Plus, if you liked this story check out Paul Zindel's other books (Reef of Death, Raptor, Rats, the Doom Stone, etc.), they are all quite good.

Just finished reading this book after picking it up at my local library. I've been a big fan of Zindel's books after reading Raptor, Reef of Death, etc. This was definitely an entertaining tale of smart, mutant rats that break free and try to take over NYC. If you are looking for a relatively fast read with a fast-paced plot, this book is for you. However, I think Zindel's other books were a bit better; the ending seemed a little too...simple...but still a great read.
