| I read this book each year in my unit on explorers. My 5th grade students love it and can really relate to the main character, Pedro. My only complaint is that it is short and the kids always want more. |

| I won this book at school when I about six years old, and it was one of the first books I remember reading to myself. I loved it! It had a truly lasting impression on me. I am now in my twenties and studying Library Science- and I sometimes still think of this story when I sit in the tub, or when I need an example of a picture book I am fond of. This book has stayed in my mind and made a very fond impression. I highly recommend this book. |

| From an adult, personal standpoint, and from a person who loves reading about westward expansion and prairie life, I found this to be quite a good read. Conrad's descriptions and use of various figurative language is indeed a plus. Conrad's knowledge of life on the prairie during this time period is evident. The accuracy of the historical aspects of the time is impressive.

| The Tub Family is playing on the rug, when they find a man under the radiator, covered with dust. They get him out, dust him off, and clean him up, but he won't wake up! Obviously, a Tub Grandfather with one eye worn away is still part of the family, just like any loved toy with worn or missing pieces is still valuable. The Tub Family tries everything to revive their long-long Grandfather!

| One of my students brought this book in to share.We do an extensive rock study in grade two, so I read this book. It is informative, and very well written. The children LOVED it and now want to see the famous "rock" at the museum in New York. I think it's a wonderful book for any grade 2-3 teacher to use. |
