| Bravo Mia! was a great book. I think i almost enjoyed it better then the first one. The begininng is really funny when shes Zuzu!!! The pictures our really good and add to the story very well. I thought Laurence Yep did a very good job on the stories, both of them. |

| I thought this was the best girl of the year american girl books i have ever read!!! Its about a girl named Mia St.Clair who was born in a hockey playing family, but Mia's big dream is to become a skater. When shes asked to perform at the winter show, shes got a lot of practice and learning to do. This is a wonderful book and i recomand it. |

| While only more than half way through this book, I find Lawrence Yep writing about subjects that few, if any, novelists for children have dealt with in any seriousness; immigration, drug-abuse, displacement from home, coming of age in America, the experience of the outsider. All of these themes present the issues faced by the characters in "Dragonwings". | The Dragon's Child is another great book for young people by award winning author, Laurence Yep. This book is historical fiction based on his own family, Gim Lew being his father. Yep did an awesome job building this novel, basing the story on facts such as the harsh treatment Chinese Americans had to endure while they tried to hold onto traditions of their homeland while fitting into American culture.
While The Dragon's Child is an entertaining story, it is also education at it's best. |

| I think the theme of this book is concerning the war with the Dogheads. It could also be about how she helped win the war with the Dogheads. The theme could be about the Dogheads because they are scattered through the entire book. But, the moral lesson could be how she helped the Hsien win the war.
The main character's Hsien name is Lady of Ch'iao Kuo. She also had a Chinese name, Princess Redbird. Even though this is a fictional book, the Lady of Ch'iao Kuo was a real person. She lived during the sixth century AD. ... Read More: |

| Dragon's Gate seems to be quite the marvelous book to read. I always favored the Chinese culture, and it was pleasing to learn more about it. Though I didn't really understand half of it. It didn't seem to get through my head when it was mentioned Otter was adopted by a new woman, who was married to Squeaky, but had feelings for another man, his father. I wasn't exactly sure whether his adopted father was Squeaky or not, which threw me off course slightly. However, the book was very enjoyable. | This book is about a prince who can turn into animals and a farmer who had 7 daughters. The third sister is the evil and greedy one and the seventh sister the youngest daughter, was the prettiest. If it wasn't for her weaving fine shoes the family would have died. In the story the prince is trying to find a wife. So he searched everywhere for one.

| Wow! I knew this book wasn't for us by page 24 when the author had already made a slang referance to women's breasts, glorified gambling for the whole 24 pages, referred to Playboy magazine, devoted a paragraph to a topless bar billboard description and used "Jesu Christe" as a curse.
My daughter was adopted from China, and when I came across my first 2 Lawrence Yep books, I was pleased with the creative writing and Asian-American cultural content. I don't know what all his other books are like, but I will certainly be reading any others thoroughly ... Read More: |

| "The Earth Dragon Awakes" by Laurence Yep is a well written novel that has specific details and a good storyline. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I would never give a book 5 stars because I always feel therecan be something revised to make the book better in many ways. I give it 4 stars because it's a good clean book which states facts and adds "lif" along with it.
