| I love the graphics and the paper that this book is printed on. Be aware that most of the cutting is pretty challenging, even for my first graders. If your child doesn't have great fine motor skills, be prepared to help them with the cutting. That being said, it is great for developing those skills that teachers don't have a lot of time to teach these days- like cutting and gluing. |

| I recently bought this book for my son's 5th birthday. He loves maze books. I also bought the Kumon animal mazes for 4,5,6 year olds. He was not as challenged with this first book but loved the animal one. When you open the book on the left is a more challenging maze and on the right is an easier one. Half of the right sided mazes are colorful 3-D looking scenes and the other half are animal shaped mazes. |

| This book was great for starting my daughter out with writing skills. My wife and I blindly assumed that we should start with the letters in her name (R) but the book has the kids starting out with straight lines (T, H, E, etc...). That makes a lot more sense. My daughter looks forward to working on her letters.
One watchout: I was told that most parents teach their kids to spell there names in all caps. However, I'm told this is very hard for teachers to correct once the kids start ... Read More: |

| I absolutely love the Kumon workborks. My 5 year old just finished this workbook with ease. Each workbook teaches one concept at a time so that your child can build upon their skills at their own pace. I've used other workbooks and find that they sometimes skip around or introduce concepts that are too hard to follow because my child hasn't learned that concept yet. | I was surprised to discover that the ONLY type of activity in this book is tracing letters and writing practice. My 4 3/4 year old needs some practice identifying lowercase letters, but isn't really into writing yet. Other workbooks we have done (cheaper ones from the drugstore) break up writing with other activities for variety. We'll save this one for later, until he's ready for writing practice. The quality of the book is excellent though, it has nice paper and is colorful. |

| Excellent book to help young children learning basic addition skills. We started this book when my son was 4 years, 8 months. The going was slow for a while, but now we are more than halfway through the book, and I no longer have to guide him on every step. Prior to this book, he had not spent a lot of time learning to write his numbers (this was his first numbers workbook), and now he can write his number 1-29 without help.

| I've purchased a whole bundle of Kumon books, and my then 3 year old soon got bored of each and every one.
The excercises are really teadiously slow for the 3-4 year old lot who knows there ABCs and numbers at the age of 2. It would probably suit a younger age group better. But the boring repetition was difficult to keep a child interested. I ended up not using most of the Kumon books and went w/ a different set of Pre-K and Kindergarden study books that were much more suited to children who already had knowledge ... Read More: |

| This neat maze book has great mazes, and you can review history, geography, or just hand-eye coordination in conjunction with it. My 5 year old had no trouble with it at all, but he loves mazes. I would say most 6 year olds would enjoy this, and he did begin asking, "Now where is THIS place?" It includes buildings, monuments, and statues in the shapes, and it's a sturdy book that didn't get torn up, no matter how many times it's been yanked down from the shelf.

| We just finished this book the day before my son's 5th birthday. We really liked it. It is great for practicing not only counting but writing legible numbers, identifying patterns, dot-to-dot activities (his favorite). It begins very simply and slowly gets more advanced, but the kids barely notice it. It was fun for him and he often wanted to do several lessons' worth of work in a sitting... this from a very energetic little boy who can usually not sit still. Recommend this book and am looking for more of these to follow. |
