| Wow, this is a Judith Viorst I never knew about.
She really does a good and thorough job of laying out the necessity of losing and gaining our lives as we develop. AND, where we go off the rails when the "necessary losses" do not take place. This is a useful book for me as a counselor, a Pastor, a human in development. |

| Judith Viorst speaks the thoughts of a young person so truthfully that my children/grandchildren just love Alexander books. Our seven year old granddaughter just moved to a new neighborhood, new school, new everything. I sent this book to her and she wrote me a thank you note telling me how much she loves Alexander because he knew how she felt. | This slim volume of prosaic poems (they are barely poems, more like very graceful essays) on encroaching senior-hood is really enjoyable. And comfortable, and comforting to read, much in the same way the classic "Golden Girls" TV show is, in a "you're not alone in this aging business, all us women are going through the same things!" way. | A friend in a college language class (not Spanish I'm afraid) advised me that books familiar to us in English are one of the best ways to increase our vocabulary in our target language. I took her up on it then, and when both I and my niece enrolled in Spanish classes (I at the local community college, with tuition paid for by my employer; she in junior high), I purchased this book for her and some other books for myself.
