| My 7 year old daughter received this book for Christmas and what a wonderful book for any child who loves horses and stories about them.
This book breaks down the stories by country and describes in detail the history of the breed of horse specific to that region and the story. It is a wonderful blend of fact and folklore with gorgeous illustrations. | Book follows the first book very well. The entire trilogy provides a great back story for the Sundering that brought about the Romulan Empire. |

| All througout the trilogy the sorry tale of the people who eventually became the Remans and the Watraii was well chronicled. It led me to believe that eventually...there would be great resolution to their plight and sufferrings at the end. Unfortunately, while most of the trilogy and this last book in particular was pretty good...I am really let down by such a weak ending. Unless they are planning more sequels...the ending is really quite weak.

| This book is a good beginning to this trilogy and gives us a glimpse of the time of Surak just before and during the Sundering.
However, in the 24th century subplot...certain technical details got ignored. Such as...how did they beam Spock on board the Watraii ship without punching through its shields? Suddenly shields don't exist anymore? Or Starfleet transporters can now beam through shields? I would have expected some minimal explanation of them finding a breach in the shields of the Watraii or somehow ... Read More: |

| I admit I had higher expectations when I started to read this book. I'd heard that it rocked and I was happy to know that Tamora Pierce and Josepha Sherman were the editors. Some of these stories are excellent and fun like THUNDERBOLT and SWORDS THAT TALK. No, no I liked more than two. Infact many others were great too. But some were just not good stories or not written to well. I do highly recomend this book to anybody that enjoys male and female hero's, fantasy, action and some romance. It was still very, very enjoyable. |

| It is very rare that I am able to say that I enjoyed every story in an anthology, but that is the case for this volume. Many of the stories have a humorous quality, not so much laugh out loud as being pastiches of various mundane mystery and other genres.
There is a great diversity in the types of stories. The characterizations and story-telling are uniformly good to outstanding. The works tend to be set in somewhat feudal cultures, as fantasy usually is, but others are quite modern or otherwise set in familiar times and ... Read More: |

| I have NEVER quit reading a Star Trek book before the end until now. At page 150 I couldn't stand it any more. Three stories going on at the same time. Jumped all over the place and hard to follow. I would avoid this book at all costs. A waste of money in my opinion. |

| This collection is firmly average. A couple pretty good stories but none really compelling. I think the problem, at least one of the problems, was that in order to broaden the offerings many stories were tangential to what one would think of as battle magic at best and seemed to not involve battle magic at worst. Now I understand that the editors, and authors, wouldn't want to present an entire anthology of wizards leading troops in battle but the stories should at least be reflective of what the anthology promises.

| I would say that this book very well describes the beginnings of the Rise of Spock as we all know and love him. The conflict between he and his father, his first interactions with Starfleet and Humans, whom he would spend a considerable amount of his life around, until he moved on into the Reunification Act with Romulus. This is essential to any fan of Spock. |
