| I watched the recent BBC version of the Northanger Abbey story first and loved it. I'm a Jane Austen fan who hasn't read all the novels but I'm working on it. So I got the novel to see how it compared. It was great! I love her humor - tongue in cheek and so witty. But the thing I really want to comment favorably about is the Penguin Classics edition. | This book went way beyond my expectations. It is packed with evidence-based care for children with autism spectrum disorders, care that in some cases can lead to full recovery. It is shocking how much we actually do know about autism and it's causes and treatments, despite what we hear in the media. | My review title refers to the notion that given any set of variables, circumstances, factors, every situation has a limit on how 'good' it can get. Change a variable, it might get better. Change another, maybe a tad more 'better'. But there's a (mostly unseen) limit on the outcome. (No, this isn't an obvious truth. If it were, most relationships would never fail because they'd never be invested in from the beginning. This ideology is connected to a 'Zen' way of living, a mindful life.)

| I've always been a little hesitant to read any Austen novels, because I didn't think I was going to get anything out of them, and they would be hard to understand due to the different jargon involved. This book solves that problem. They give Austen's back story, have a timeline of important events that were going on at different parts in her life, so you can get a sense of what kind of world she was living in.
