Having read and loved Garth Nix's OLD KINGDOM books (SABRIEL, LIRAEL, and ABHORSEN) as well as his SEVENTH TOWER series, I had pretty high expectations when I started in on SUPERIOR SATURDAY. I wasn't
disappointed. The action moves along quickly, with new and original presentations of magic at every turn, and major and minor characters worth cheering for (or, in the case of the antagonists, against).

The sixth book in Nix's KEYS TO THE KINGDOM series picks up right where ... Read More:

To me, this book requires some imagination and patience. I could not just breeze through the Prologue and other parts of the book without having to go back and reread some parts. But once I got into the beginning and reading about Arthur, the hesitant hero, the book grew on me.

I found it was quite easy to visualize the main character's adventures when he was on Earth in the beginning, but when the book shifted to the other world..I kind of got confused again. But I did not give up reading the book. ... Read More:

I'm a writer. And I have three boys who don't read. How embarrassing is that? But they have all picked up these books (10, 12, & 13) and I catch them reading instead of watching television. That is this mother's dream, and I'm so grateful. Incidentally, this was their favorite because they liked all the "war". Warning: your kids may feel especially heroic after reading this series. And I have a message from my sons Garth Nix, hurry up, they're waiting for Sunday! Kristin

I am an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, romance and historical novels. I found this entire series to be exceptional. I am an adult and these seemed to be written for a younger generation but I could not put these books down!

If you would like some light fantasy reading that is different from many of the books out there, then this is for you.

Australian Author Garth Nix writes a trilogy of charter magic, necromancy, the power of life and death and the thin line that seperates both.

Fantastic series, great for adolescent and young adult readers.

Grim Tuesday was a good read for me. In the beginning, it starts off on Earth, and Grim's Grotesques are affecting the world around Arthur. Houses were sold, including Arthur's own home. His family was in financial trouble, as well.

Eventually, it becomes darker with Arthur being in the pit, and then when he begins on a journey on a ship that looks like a turtle, his journey isn't so dark. I found the second half of the book was a better read, more interesting. I like the fact there wasn't really a drawn out fighting ... Read More:

THis will end up being a hodgepodge review of the entire series becuase each book blends into the other. The characters were strong and well portatryed, and the cultures were fairly believeable.

Thiss book is also perfectly fine without any 'romanctic' element. it doesn't need one. It's expected, but unnecesary, and probably would have mucked up the plot a bit.

I also enjoyed the many sides to the war. With the Icecarl, rebels and steadfast Chosens, Garth Nix pulls it off well, whereas other authors just might have made it confusing. ... Read More:

I'm currently reading Sir Thursday, and I have read Drowned Wednesday a long long time ago. But even so, I still remember what happened in the book quite clearly. I don't really remember Tuesday at all! Drowned Wednesday was memorable because it was innovative and fun. This whole serious is pretty good.
