| I initially approached this book with much enthusiasm. The author is a very engaging writer, intermingling an otherwise boring subject with much humor.
However, this book is not really all it is cracked up to be. For starters, the book deals with a little known 3D game engine based in BASIC known as Blitz3D. | This book is for someone who has never heard of Flash and doesn't know anything about animation.
A much better book is Hollywood 2D Flash Animation by Sandro Corsaro and Cliff Parrot. That book shows you professional, useful techniques. This author didn't even draw his own art. |

| I found CubaseSX3 Ignite! very helpful in learning to use Cubase. Yes there are some errors - e.g. on p.31 item 1 "Click on the Track Mixer icon..." points to the wrong icon. This can be frustrating to a beginner, but I see such things as occasional typos. I also have to criticize the illustrations, they are too small and blurry, and I had to use a magnifying glass several times. | This book gives a solid introduction to the basic functions of Adobe 1.5 (and earlier), and its contents are clearly identified in the index, which makes the navigation easy. I was performing the basic editing in a matter of minutes. Also, the book binding is excellent--you open a page and it will stay open! This is an important feature when you are working with both of your hands on your computer.
