| This is a fast read -- you'll find yourself drawn into the book quickly -- and a wonderful piece of historical fiction based on Henry II of England, Louis VII of France, and of course Eleanor of Aquitaine, the only woman to be once queen of France and then queen of England.

| The Second Mrs. Gioconda grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go. In addition to an intriguing story about Leonardo Da Vinci and his apprentice Salai (there is some good information here, and it's relayed in a very interesting way), this is the story of beauty, both inner beauty and outward (appearance) beauty. | Three stars for average.
The story is slow and the characters are inconsistent, but the sections related to lost and stolen art by the Nazis were interesting to read. I enjoyed the fictionalized (of course) stories of the young men in an art shop on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam trying to save the loss of great art the Nazis had condemned as "degenerate art". I can imagine such fictionalized accounts of this type of activity probably aren't too far from truth. In terms of the characters I didn't like the development of the two young ... Read More: |

| Perhaps I an too old to get it, but I bought this book as a read for my students before putting it in the class library. This book is so boring that school has long since been over here in Florida and seconds from beginning and I have not completed this story. I would not recommend this particular story. But, if you are a fan, then go for it. Just not my cup of tea... |

This book is so boring that school has long since been over here in Florida and seconds from beginning and I have not completed this story. I would not recommend this particular story. | This is about a girl named Elizabeth that mets a girl named jennifer and jennifer is a witch.I recomend this book because there are your main charecters.There is cynthia,cynthia is that girl that is mean.Then there is jennifer wich is the normal one that just moved there.Then last but not least there is Jennifer the witch.In the book jennifer is trying to make Elizabth a witch but elizabeth has to eat raw food and fallow the Taboos with out cynthia getting in the way. |
