| I bought this for my g'daughter's 11th birthday. At first she was busy playing with toys she rec'd that day, but then realized later that evening that the book is full of fun things to do, new things to try, and facts that realy interest girls her age. The next day she spent an hour trying to perfect the karate moves illustrated in the book.

| I found this book to have a very negative and complaining tone to it. It was not what I expected. Rather than celebrate having a son it seemed to find writers that wanted a girl and ended up with a boy, or their boy was a bully or some other negative story. Not worth your precious time. |

| I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter. I was excited to see all the fun activities and things to make that were included. She likes the book, too, and is eager to try lots of new things! |

| This is the book you'll want to buy for all of your friends who are new moms. The books is entertaining and a breath of fresh air. It allows one to see that all moms are human and all of the emotions that go along with motherhood are normal. So many women feel guilty if they express any negative emotions with motherhood, but Andrea Buchanan allows us to laugh at ourselves and humbly see our own humanness. |

| I really really enjoyed It's a boy so I was looking forward to reading this book. Unfortunately I have to agree with most of the other reviewers. A specific feminist type of writer seemed to be the only writers to reflect on this relationship. I do consider myself a feminist, but not the type who would be horrified of all things typically considered female. It would be great to read a few stories like that, but the entire book. | A book even designed with busy mom's in mind. I was able to read brief snatches in between snack time and dragon hunts. The images and language are with me even after the book is finished. This is a collection of writers talented enough to do motherhood justice. It goes beyond the sentimental fluff flooding the mother market. Read it not only for the insight it provides on parenting but also as an example of great writing. It is a perfect mix of poetry, fiction and essays. Great gift for Mother's Day! |
