Software : Quicken 2008 Deluxe [OLD VERSION]

I have several accounts in banks and financial institutions and Quicken consolidates all the information for me. One big plus is that it connects on its own and pulls down infomation unlike say Msmoney where you have to download the transactions seperately.
I have been an Msmoney user for almost 15years, they have started charging money for bill pay. Why would I want to pay for something I can do for free on my banks website? Now this is why Quicken excels, it actually logs into the bank website and sets up the bill for you! I have switched from money to quicken.
Another big plus was that quicken downloaded my stock trading transactions (and they are a lot) for the year and did the reconcilation for me. I was already thinking about the work involved in getting my trading report for Taxes. Quicken could tell me when I sold xyz this was the profit or loss. And with the excellent reporting feature, I had my tax report ready and imported into Excel in less than 1hr.
The paypal feature is shaky, they still have some work to do on that. That is also very important to me because of transactions. But overall Quicken 2008 saves me 90% of work so that is good.
I highly recommend this product. Microsoft has to catch up.

- Problems with downloading Stock Quotes
I have had numerous troubles with downloading stock quotes and, like so many software companies, Intuit appears overwhelmed by the problem on their support web site with several suggested work arounds before allowing you to get to a person....are you considering this product? don't do it until they fix this problem.

I always had a challenge tracking my income and expenses and doing budgets. I have used different ways to track my finances (i.e. Microsoft Money, my own excel spreadsheets, etc.).
After I got Quicken recently, this software tool has been amazing for me. It is very easy to connect to all my bank accounts and credit card accounts and can make updating a breeze. This is very important as I don't have time to spend hours a day or even a week to keep updating things. Quicken does it all for me very quickly and easily.

I have been a loyal Quicken user since 1996. When I first graduated from college, I had trouble balancing my checkbook. After hearing about Quicken, I quickly set up the software, balanced my checkbook and begin recording where all my expenses were going. I've gone through the upgrades through the years, and each time the software just got better and better. As my financial management needs increased, I found that Quicken provided everything that I was looking for. From reports, graphs, investment performance, goal tracking and budget creation, it was all there at my fingertips. And the online updates for transactions just saves all the time in the world and removes human error. I never hesitate to highly recommend Quicken to friends and family!

- no positive reason to purchase other than to avoid Intuit's sabotage of its prior versions
I've been a devoted Quicken user since 1991. There is absolutely no positive reason to buy this new version. The improvements are cosmetic or even negative. For example, the automatic fill-in of categories is mindless .... a check from a class action lawsuit settlement is automatically categorized as "education." If you use `tabs" there will be insufficient space to fully read the categories you are using. The prior versions are all that anyone needs - except that Intuit will sabotage their effectiveness through "sunsetting" - taking away product support and even the ability to download account information. It is a shame that Intuit has to destroy the viability of good versions in order to induce sales of a new version that has nothing meaningfully better to offer.
