Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Gets better the more you listen
I've never been a big Cold Play Fan, but I do like parts of this CD, it gets better the more you listen..

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - coldplays latest
not up to other great cd's-musically flat and lacks the verve and individuality of earlier efforts-did not grab my attention as i thought it would-even after several plays

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Elevator muzak for your car or iPod...
Wonderfully sterile (and very, very safe) MOR (middle of the road) pop. Most notable for Brian Eno actually producing a clunker of an album - a rare occurence. His production values don't save the uninspired music or childish lyrics but no doubt, as clear as day, Eno's presence is Gwyneth Paltrow's husband's band's way of saying: "Hey, guys - see, we're serious musicians! We don't just write music for television commercials." It is most obvious in it's attempt at being "serious".

Music died ages ago but apparently it's mummified remains shall be commercialized until it's nothing more than a pile of ashes.

I really hope Gwyneth Paltrow's husband's band stops lowering the standards of MOR muzak...

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A strong and unique effort...
Coldplays 'Viva La Vida' is an interesting piece of conceptual rock that when it connects with the listener it really connects, but when it misses, it REALLY misses. The coldplay of old is here, alas a little hard to find behind the flood of concepts and ideas sprinkled about.

The three standout tracks in my humble opinion are 'Yes', 'Viva La Vida' and 'Violet Hill'. If the band could have captured those songs ideas along the length of the album I may have mustered it a 4 star album. Everything else here is a little to experimental for its own good.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love this album
Especially the songs: Viva la Vida, Life in Technicolor, Cemtaries of London, and Violet Hill. This is my favorite Coldplay album... so far.
