just like everyone else says, it is not a miracle drug. for me it is a psychological thing - eat bad now, pay later. it helps you realize just how much fat is in the foods we eat, and the realization is what they so nicely call "treatment effects." it's a learning experience, and is producing nice results for me. i've been on it for about 3 weeks and have lost 5 pounds. a slow, consistent loss which is a result of adjusting your diet and exercise are key to keeping off the weight. i'll stick with it.

A few years ago, I used another type of fat-blocker (a prescription medicine) which worked fine but made you have to go to the bathroom RIGHT AWAY! There wasn't much time to look for a bathroom if you were out shopping. Alli blocks the fat but doesn't make you have to go to the bathroom immediately, or if it does, it's not "unbearable."
I find that it blocks the fat for me, plus it helps with bowel movements. I know this sounds kind of gross, but it does work! I feel much better when I use Alli after eating a high-fat meal. You can't use it if you're eating raw vegetables (with no dip, etc.) or any non-fat meal. It's not intended for that. Since I don't eat 3 meals a day, the 120-count size bottle lasts longer. You must remember to take it when you begin eating the high-fat meal, or it may not work or it may take much longer for it to work.
I recommend it very much. When I get low on the 120-count size, I'm ordering another.

I have been using Alli for almost one month I have already lost 15 lbs- from 202 to 187 (with a long term goal of 147)!! I will mention that I do have a very diligent workout program that burns between 500-600 calories per day (swimming, walking and workout tapes) and I stick to a 1600 calorie diet with a max of 55 grams of fat a day. I have noticed that "calorie cycling" works really well with this program. I increase my calories to 1800 on Wednesday and Saturday and keep it to 1600 the rest of the week. I have noticed that this really helps my body to break plateaus so my body "doesn't know what to expect."
I will give a HUGE WARNING to everyone out there though. While talking to the local pharmacist at Walmart I guess there has been a LOT of theft of the Alli starter packs and the refill packs. If you buy from Amazon you are safe, but beware if you buy from a independent seller. The goods could be stolen and although it might be cheaper- the pills could have been altered (like one reviewer said- some pills looked to be only half full) or fake pills altogether. If you buy stolen goods from a dishonest seller you are just adding to the problem because obviously there is a big market for it. I highly advise only buying from reputable sources- you get what you pay for.
But to conclude- the pills work GREAT! I will add also that if you increase your fiber to the recommended 25-30 grams a day you won't have loose stools because the fiber will help keep them intact. Gross subject, but taking extra fiber really helps! I do occasionally get the farts, but my husband overlooks it- as he is too busy looking at my skinnier booty!
