I just finished reading "Three Cups of Tea" and cannot stop thinking about Greg Mortenson's perseverance to fulfill a promise he made to the children of a small village in Pakistan. Thousands of children in Pakistan and Afghanistan are now the beneficiaries of Mortenson's humanitarian efforts to make a difference and provide a well-rounded education to counter the Islamic extremist schools which have been been fueled by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Mortenson's skills in diplomacy ought to be required instruction to all U.S. diplomats who work for our State Department. If every Foreign Service Officer had Greg's skills and training, we would be able to create an environment of trust and literally move mountains to educate the masses in all of those underdeveloped countries of the world, resulting in building bridges of understanding, cooperation and peace.
I hope that his book will be translated into every possible language so every citizen of the world might have the opportunity to be inspired by this amazing story told my a man of conscience and vision. We need more Greg Mortenson's in this broken world of ours!

Greg Mortensen has created a very special organization bringing education, clean drinking water, and other basic services to remote parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This book chronicles his amazing story, from his childhood in Tanzania, to the epic K2 attempt that accidentally landed him in Korphe, to the amazing work he did to get the schools going, staffed, etc. This is an incredibly inspirational story about a man with few to little means who worked so hard to make a difference in a place that is viewed with suspicion by many Americans.
