Rating: - Excellent laptop accessory!
This is exactly what I needed for my new laptop. The stand is compact and works beautifully. I particularly appreciate the feature that allows the keyboard to be at a comfortable angle. I also felt it was a bargain compared to others on the market. I highly recommend this cooling stand.

Rating: - Works, but certainly not ergonomic. No point in a non-ergonomic, but good look fan, if its going under the laptop.
This product looks beautiful.

But after 4 months of use, it's started to become cranky. After 7 months, the fan starts whistling and complaining. The actual design of the base was pretty poorly thought out. To make it stand on a table, you need to pull out a small support from the bottom, and the little hold that you need to insert your finger to pull out that support is located right above the fan and is made for really tiny sturdy fingers. My fingers aren't really large, yet I find it difficult to get a grip on that small hold at the back - I almost need to use my nail to pull it out and even then its hard to pull out. If you have the laptop+fan on your lap and intend to place it on a table for further use, you may need to pull this hold from the bottom while its running. But because, it's so close to the fan, you tend to get your finger in the running fan. Thankfully, the fan is plastic.

But it works. Then again, all these fans work. It was the purported ergonomic design that made me buy this and I was disappointed.

Bottom line: Not at all a very convenient product even though it looks good.

Would I buy this again after mine breaks down? No.

Look at other options - ones that work. After all, you cant appreciate the design if its underneath the laptop!!!

Rating: - A Great Choice
I'm sorry to see all the reviews from people having quality problems with this item. I suppose Belkin deserves it - my first unit became noisy and I had to have them replace it because the store from which I bought it was too far away to drive back. But the fan really is teriffic.

It is not noisy at all. It is as quiet as can be. It's intelligently designed so that the fan isn't in direct contact with the bottom of the laptop, enabling it to pull air out and away, and it's very effective at cooling.

It doesn't LOOK like it would be comfortable on your lap, but it is.

I haven't had any problems with the power cord, but the newly-designed one is shorter than on my first unit, so now I have to use a USB extension. Not a biggie, because I already had one I wasn't using, but I do think they could (and should) have made it a few inches longer.

I got a second one at Costo for $18.95. If this one ever dies, I'll buy another. Perhaps they should have designed the fan to be more durable (judging by others' comments here) and charged more for it, but I'm pretty happy with this unit, and you can't beat the price. I'd recommend it to a friend.

This does lift your laptop up and fits your lap nicely, the power cord and place it plugs in is made very cheapy and pushes in when you plug it in. I have taken mine apart at least every month to push the cable back so the cable fits. Works at cooling but the plug doesnt stay in the socket it is intended so if you dont mind taking it apart to fix it monthly...

Rating: - pretty poor design
The pop-out stand to tilt the laptop isn't very good. It doesn't lock, so when I lift it, the stand half closes, so I have to hold it open whenever I place it down.

When I place the cooler on my lap, the 2 ridges on the bottom aren't very comfortable to me.

After 3 months of use, the fan sounds like it's dying. I wouldn't be surprised if this is because the fan scraped up some stuff off of cloth surfaces(like pants, bed covers, or anything I put the cooler on top of) because there's not much clearance on the bottom beneath the fan.

Now, it's only being used on my desk as a stand to tilt my laptop(not using the fan because of the noise). At least the Belkin cooler provides space under my laptop for some natural cooling.
