I purchased both the 1st and 2nd book and both my 3rd grader and 4th grader loved them! I have been trying to get them more interested in reading which I have but nothing compared to how my 3rd grader was enthralled by this book. He finished the last one literally in 3 days when it normally takes him about a week to finish a book that is much shorter. The best part is that now he is writing in his own diary which I think is AWESOME and he discovered that he can draw cartoons!!

After reading this site's reviews, I ordered both of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I have two boys, ages 11 and 9, who love to read but still are very picky about what they read. It's hit or miss with them sometimes.
Well, I had to basically force them both to BEGIN reading the books. I gave one to each of them on the same day for them to start. They complained a bit, because they didn't know much about them. A few pages in and there were no more complaints! They couldn't put them down! They even took them in the car and I would hear bursts of laughter...quite nice rather than pestering each other.
They both finished their books about the same time and quickly traded to read the next. My boys loved these books! Unfortunately there are only the two at this point because my guys are eager to read any future ones. If you are buying for an elementary age boy, this book is a sure winner.

Diary of a wimpy kid RODRICK RULES is so COOOOOOL! you should read this book you should trust me. Its about this kid named greg and his older brother rodrick and one day they did a party when the parents are gone remember what I said in the begining its AWSOME bye.

This is an awesome book and I read it twice and want to get the second one also. It is too cool! My 12 year old bother introduced me to it and he read it again because he loves it. Marco age 9.

I bought this book for my 9 year old son after buying the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. He read this one, just like the first one, in a day. He couldn't put either of them down. Being that my son was so into them, I had to read them, too. They are both amusing and made me smile many times. Just simple stories about a boy going through a year of school. I recommend it if you are looking for a funny read for your child.
