Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My son loved it!
My son read this book in record time. He kept showing me the different pages to share with me how funny he thought it was. He told his best friend who ran out and got the book to read it too. No sooner did he finish it when we saw the part two version in the bookstore. He has already read that one too non-stop. I highy recommend it for young boys 7-9 years old.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Funny way
This book was hilarious. It helps you get in the mindset of a middle schooler. So, parents if you forgot what it was like to be in middle school.. read it! I am studying to be a middle school teacher and this was a great way for me to get in the mindset of my soon to be students. I loved it! Very easy read!

If you are in middle school, this book would be hilarious because you just know it is true!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun for kids of any age.
I enjoyed this book very much. Very amusing (I laughed out loud several times) and irreverant enough to suit even the most disaffected middle-schooler.

One of the things I liked about it is that there was no comeuppance at the end. There is not even a hint of the After School Special in this book, nor its sequel. That's unusual enough in a children's book to be notable.

Greg is not the most upstanding or admirable character, it's true -- but he's fun and funny.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Diary of a Secret Bully
This book has a GREAT cover (love the art and entire concept). It has a great title, too. And the concept--with graphic cartoon art scattered through the text of a diary is wonderful. The pacing of the story makes it an easy and quick read. I understand why it's attractive.

What prompts me to give it a low rating, though, is the main character. I disliked him intensely. Another reviewer talks about how whiny he is--and that's true. What bothers me even more, though, is his penchant for bullying --he's not the victim so much as the perpetrator.

He mistreats his "best" friend, Rowley--cruelly--in the sledding incident, in the entire relationship on playing video games and such, in letting Rowley take the rap for the MC's own mistreatment of kindergarten kids. And the best friend Rowley seems slow or just particularly immature for a 7th grader, making him more vulnerable and the MC even less nice.

The MC loves to scare little kids, like those kindergartners he's escorting home, like the kids he lures to his scam "haunted house," and like his little brother. He thinks a cool joke is a tack on his teacher's chair. His idea of a good reason to participate in the school play is to throw apples at a girl he dislikes because she prevented him from cheating on a test.

This is not humor, but a sadistic wish to be the bully.

There are a few truly funny moments in the book, but all of the positives do not outweigh the basic and horrible negatives of a MC who is unlikeable and worse.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nice Book!!!
Jeef, I have to say you did a very good job with that book. I LOVE IT. No wonder that it has a 5 star rating on this and alot of sites. Keep up the good work, try making a 3rd book.
