 Rating:  - A Must for First Year TeachersThis is a hilarious book and a must read for any first year teacher. A beautifully illustrated reminder that in teaching (no matter how long you have been doing it) things do not always turn out as expected. It is a wonderful book to read on a day when nothing has gone well. My students also loved this book and it was a great introduction to letter writing. A great companion book is "First Day Jitters" by the same author and illustrator. Rating:  - Fun but why so few girls?This is a lively book with amusing writing and illustrations. The text is made up of letters, so it promotes letter writing, which is great. The letters are mostly from students to their teacher, with a few between adults. What's baffling is that there are 12 letters from boys and only 4 from girls. Four of the boys write more than one letter and none of the girls do, although the pictures show as many girls. Presumably it was intentional, but I don't know why an author writing for all children ...
