The medium-sized text, example sentences that accompany most definitions, and the miniature pronunciation guide on every page all work nicely together to ensure that kids will understand correct usage without getting overwhelmed with detail.  Rating:  - excellent first dictionaryI bought this dictionary for my 7 year old grandson. it is colorful, easy to use and does not use words below his vocabulary level. Rating: - children dictionaryThis dictionary is excellent for children. As a teacher I totally recommend it particularly for children who have difficulty reading and spelling. Colour coded, it is easy to use especially to reinforce the skill of "looking up" a word. Each word is listed in its own right....not as a derivitatve of another word with clear examples of meanings. Our group of dyslexic children are all confident and happy when using this dictionary. Rating: - great to have for elementary studentsGreat Dictionary. My 3rd grader uses it and likes it. I think it's a great dictionary for 2nd and 3rd grader and maybe older kids too. The size of the characters is big enough for kids to find words quickly. There are some illustrations. You can verify how many syllables are in on word ( great for homework!). We love it! Rating:  - GOOD SHAPEThe book was not the actual book in the picture, but a much older version. I gave each of my first grade students this dictionary as a reward for participating in my year-long Whiz Kids decoding words game. The dictionary is very usable, colorful, appealing to elementary students. My students were so excited. They will find it useful for years to come. The hardback edition will take a lot of abuse.
