 Rating:  - Top 5 BookI read 2-3 books a week and very rarely recommend books to friends. This one i recommend over and over and over. Because i read so much, many books get 'lost' and i have a hard time remembering them. Not this one. I won't rehash the story as it's been done previously, but trust me, it's an incredible ride. This is one that will stay with you long after you've read it. Rating: - Breath-taking ThrillerThis is the first book I've read by Stephen White, but I have since gone out to my local used bookstore and purchased 7 others. I was bowled over by this novel. It easily ranks in the top 5 most enjoyable books I have read to date. A wealthy man, who is never named, hires a group that he refers to as the Death Angels to end his life as painlessly as possible, while making it look like an accident, should he develop a catastropic illness or suffer from a life altering mishap. He meets ... Read More: Rating: - "You can run, but you can't hide"Whoa! this was a powerful novel. Not only is it very well-written and with great intelligence, but the concept is so unique I was captured from page one. The dialogue is crisp and innovative and I was very impressed with Mr. White's use of the English language. I almost wanted to take notes about the wittiest lines but it would have taken me away from the fast-forwarding suspense. Intensity, yes! Do I want to read other books by Stephen White, indeed. As the book progresses, you begin to feel less and less sympathetic to the main character. I thought it was a good read up to the last 50 pages because I so badly wanted to have the "hero" learn some sort of lesson on life. Instead, I thought it fizzled within the last 50 pages, and became predictable at that point. Entertaining, but not fulfilling. Rating: - worth itwasn't the best book i've ever read. but, it kept me interested the whole time and was entertaining. |
