DVD : Aladdin (Musical Masterpiece Edition) [1992]
Based on the classic fairy-tale from the Arabian Nights, "Aladdin" is one of the best Disney films; it is a tour-de-force of lovely animation and magical music. There's plenty of heart, as well, and whilst the story may not be the strongest in the Disney canon, the film overall deserves a good five stars.

Having said that, but this DVD edition (the Musical Masterpiece Edition) is a bit pointless. I hate to nitpick and sound all geeky, but I shall be. A few years ago, it was released ... Read More:

I bought this DVD for my 3 year old Grandson based on customer reviews except the oldest review which I unfortunately missed out. If I had read it, I would have chosen another DVD.

I do agree that this movie is for slightly older children (6 or 7 +). My Grandson was very attentive to most of it but kept losing interest as he found it difficult to concentrate on the story, unable to relate to the humour and ancient Greek setting (temples, muses etc). Also, although humourous and funny to us, ... Read More:

Well the first one is. Personally Disney dvds can become hard to come by so if you haven't picked up Aladdin yet to relive those childhood memories do. Personally I picked this one up over the release with just Aladdin in as the other two movies are good, especially for Disney sequels which can be hit and miss.

The songs are still as sing-along-able and the jokes still as funny.

This film to me is my second favourite Disney after Beauty and the Beast. Why they don't carry on doing cartoon animation is beyond me since I'd rather watch this 10, 000 times over than ever look at Cars EVER again. Amazing film! you HAVE to watch it!

DVD : Aladdin (Special Edition) [1993]
Aladdin is an entirely different spin on the fairy tale genre mainly focusing on the hero rather than the heroine perspective.
Genie(Robin Williams)steals the film as Disneys' most fabulous and hilarious creation ever!!!
a very remarkable film that matches the likes of The Lion king, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty & The Beast.
it is visually stunning and is full of pop culture references throughout.
and to top it all off...it was released on the year i was born.

DVD : Basil The Great Mouse Detective (Disney) [1986]
This was one of my favourite films as a child and still is today. In my opinion it is THE greatest Disney film and does not have the fame it deserves.

From beginning to end this is a delight to watch, mainly thanks to the wonderful Sherlock Holmes based characters and cunning twists in the plot. There is plenty to amuse both the child and the Holmes fan, from the narration of Dr Dawson, the loveableness of Toby, the evil schemes of the Napolean of Crime - Professor Ratigan , and of course the cunning disguises and eccentric genius of Basil himself, ...
