In one of this special edition's most intriguing extras, the 1968 TV special D-Day Revisited, the erstwhile head of 20th Century Fox and producer of The Longest Day Darryl F. Zanuck takes a colour camera crew (most of whom worked on the film itself) to the real-life locations of the D-Day landings. Whether explaining D-Day to an ignorant young French bit part actress pretending to be a waitress at the cafe by Pegasus Bridge while waiting for cameraman Henri Decae to set up a shot ("What is D-Day?"), ... Pete (Sean Marshall) is a poor orphan. He's been adopted by the mean Gogan family run by the matriarch Lena (Shelley Winters). The Gogans make him work from morning til night and beat him for the slightest thing.

So, naturally, he runs away. Only this time he has help in the form of Elliot. Elliot is a dragon. And while he doesn't always think about what he's doing, he means well. And he really wants to help Pete.

Pete and Elliot happen to find the town of Passamaquoddy on the ... Read More:

5.The Poseidon Adventure [1972] starring: Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Carol Lynley, Roddy McDowall

DVD : The Poseidon Adventure [1972]
The original The Poseidon Adventure isn't exactly a film so good that it couldn't stand remaking. The first half hour before the wave hits is like a very badly written episode of The Love Boat, with painfully on the nose dialog ("What kind of priest are you?" "I'm a renegade! The very best kind!") and hideously stereotyped characters. In fact, truth to tell, it's a pretty pedestrian affair even after the ship goes bottom up: strip away its high concept and all you're really left with is a long, slow wade to the grave for some ... DVD : Hatari [1963]
Hatari is one of the best movies about the wild life in Africa. I saw it in the cinema in 1963. Now I have it on DVD, and we see it sometimes.
Great pctures. I like the start of the film, where they spot the rhino in the distance. It is a fantastic start.

DVD : The Poseidon Adventure [1972]
Simply because of the sheer grandeur with which this film was made by mega producer Irwin Allen, you have to overlook the cliches and stereotypes that fill the cast. Shelley Winters shines as Mrs Rosen, and even received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her performance. The basic plot - as if it needs to be told - involves a group of people trying to survive the terrible disaster which occurs aboard the S.S Poseidon when the ship is struck by a gigantic wave on New Year's Eve and turns completely upside down. The upside down set-pieces ... Read More:

Sayonara has all the problems of 50s Scope blockbuster doorstop novel adaptations and Joshua Logan films both - slow pacing not the least of them - but still works despite it taking nearly an hour for the lovers to meet. But for once the soap operatics seem to be there to support the film's surprisingly daring criticism of the US Army's racist policies rather than its sole raison d'etre, and it's hard to imagine a major studio today making a mainstream big-budget picture with A-list stars about, say, American troops falling for nice Islamic girls. Brando is ... Read More:

DVD : Alice in Wonderland [1983] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
This film has to be classed as top class film with many songs and legendary characters like Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts. I like when Natalie Gregory tap dances with Sammy Davis Jr.
