I thought the film was fab. My friends and I had a few drinks and had a great night watching the film. Julie Walters was outstanding as always. We laughed and sang all the way through the film. This is the type of film you can watch again and again. It's a feel good film.

Borrowed a DVD version to watch, based mainly on the wonderful feel good factor hype that abounds over this movie, and, well, the wife and I had to switch it off after 15 minutes. Just couldn't face any more. Meryl Streep singing and being overly bubbly and effervescent and happy and jumpy and running aroundy...just doesn't suite her acting abilities and other than the obvious Greek Island bits, the whole thing was shot in a studio. Julie Walters, I guess she hadn't worked for a while so she jumped at the ... Read More:

Not a lot to add to earlier reviews, this is simply a brilliant adaptation. I watch it over and over, and when I read the book I hear their voices!!

Bought this as a present for my mum, she loves the film, I haven't seen it and have no plans too, however when I received the package, the musical function on the box failed to work. This was resolved by removing the foam insert and then removing the batteries, cleaning them and the clips they go into with a little sand paper and then reinserting them. Problem solved and it now works fine, no idea why this may have happened but the metal contacts seemed to have corroded on the surface.

I was nervous about this latest St Trinian's film. I'm a die-hard fan of the old movies and was worried that this would be a poor attempt to resurrect what were perfect comedies of years gone by.

I was, however, wrong to be afraid of this new breed of St Trinian's girls and their teachers - though I don't think I'd like to get on the wrong side of the little minxes!

This film is perfectly judged, cast, scripted and realised. I couldn't have wished for a better surprise Christmas pressie! If you liked ... Read More:

Although it doesn't quite work, it's definitely worth watching. Some great performances. Could have cut a few of the stories out completely though. Should have focused on Colin Firth, Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant. The rest weren't really worth it although the Laura Linney storyline was moving. I cried a little and laughed a little, and I guess it kept me more engaged than most films I see.
Actually, the absolute best thing about this film is Lynden David Hall singing at the wedding at the beginning. He died a couple of years ago ... Read More:

The story of Bridget Jones first began as a diary collumn in a newspaper, rose to success in book form (then it's sequel) and then finally hit the movies in 2001 with Briget played quite perfectly by the lovely Renee Zellwegger.

This modern take on Pride and Predjudice follows the female protagonist Briget Jones who decides to keep a diary of her life; unlike the Mary-Jane all too perfect characters in most stories and movies of today, Bridget is quite literally EVERY woman you've ever known.

Bridget is a 30 ... Read More:

WoW, what a thoroughly awfull film. Historically inaccurate, badly acted, terrible script and a very cheap rip of of the clive owen "king arthur" movie.

I would quite happily give away my copy to anyone sad enough to want it.

If you are looking for something that can equal kingdom of heaven, gladiator, braveheart or king arthur, keep looking, this is certainly not the movie you're looking for.

I read The English Patient and, although I enjoyed it, wouldn't have ranked it as one of my favourite stories until a friend recommended I watched the film. Brilliant acting and beautiful scenery made it very easy and enjoyable to watch, and I would argue that the story has more depth in the film adaptation. I cry every time! Definately a must-see.

Unfortunately, this is miles away from being as good as the books or the first film. They changed the plot so they could shoe-horn Hugh Grant into the film (and a not very good fight scene with Colin Firth as well). But so much worse is the sense that Bridget has been made into a figure of fun, rather than someone who was funny because we related to her. Not funny, not romantic, even Colin Firth is less lovely in this film.
