'The Princess Bride' is finally getting its own Region 2 Special Edition DVD? Inconceivable! (Well, it's about time MGM got their act together. Let's face it, Region 1 have had more Special Editions released than there are R.O.U.Ss in the Fire Swamp.) This is a 2 disc set so let's hope we get all the extras the other region has had plus more to make up for our long wait!

'The Nightmare Before Christmas' is one of those wonderfully atmospheric films that has easily stood the test of time. It is as delightful and quirky now as when it was initially released. The stop-motion animation is superb and the dark Tim Burton Characters are perfect for the story. Danny Elfman provided the music and songs for this film and they stick in your head at first listen and you can't help but grin and sing along with subsequent viewings. The story is unique and fun and although it has a very dark turn ... Read More:

Other reviewers have rightly singled out Pacino's performance as a career best, as Sonny, the twitchy eternal optimist ("We're going to make it, right?"), and also John Casale's haunting and haunted performance as Sal, the sad loner with a dog-like devotion to Sonny.

The essence of Pacino's performance is the brilliant balancing act between comedy and pathos, because he always plays the emotional truth of the moment, and lets the reaction come out of that. Improvisation is at the heart of his playing, and ... Read More:

If the film were better executed, even James Bond would have hidden under the floorboards. However it wasn't. It was excruciatingly banal.

DVD : The Princess Bride [1987]
This is one of those genius crossover pieces, made for children but with such witty dialogue and wordplay it is probably more often rewatched by adults.

So if you want masked men, giants, scheming princes, cunning sicillians, spanish swordsmasters, six-fingered men, swooning damsels, cynical miracle workers, depraved torturers, speech-challenged priests, not to mention, rodents of unusual size, this is the film for you.

It is "inconceivable" you will come away from this movie without remembering a line or ... Read More:

I saw a bit of Dog Day Afternoon when I was about nine years old and left it this long before actually focusing on watching the whole film. Despite claiming to be the film expert that I am, I had little knowledge of what the film is actually about.

Sonny and Sal (that's Pacino and John Cazale) and some other guy enter a bank in Brooklyn with the intention of robbing it. But they simply couldn't be less prepared. One second into the robbery the third robber chickens out and runs away, leaving Sonny and Sal to do it on their own. The ... Read More:

DVD : Fright Night [1985]
I love every bit of Fright Night. The music is truly awful 80s disco, the teenagers are very annoying and the central vampire is so over the top. The real highlight is Roddy Mcdowell as Peter Vincent (price and cushing perhaps) vampire killer or so his film fans think.
The story Charlie and Amy are about to have their first intimate encounter when Charlie is obsessed with what he sees out of the window(yeah right). Charlie is convinced his new suave neighbour is up to something especially when the pretty women who visit all seem to be found dead. ... Read More:
