| It's definitely one of my favorites of all time because it's got stuff that most movies don't have: Everything. MGM and company unintentionally created a work of popular art that could only be fully appreciated in its original, pristine print, 70mm, super widescreen glory. It is no longer possible to make a film like Ben-Hur. | Ben Hur is my favourite film of all time and I have seen it many times since I first saw it as a schoolboy in Dublin in 1960. Naturally when the 4 disc version became available I got it straight away. Everything was perfect, the film itself, the earlier version and the extras on the 4th disc but the documentary "Directed by William Wyler" which was widely advertised as being on the box set is literally nowhere to be seen. | Captivating film that has stood the test of time. Great storyline and acting. The film also has a positive message about life which many current films dont have. Really enjoyed it. Uplifting. Recommended. |

| The last of the collaborations between James Stewart and director Anthony Mann, The Man From Laramie is the most ambitious even if it isn't always completely successful. Its also presented in the best widescreen Aspect ratio ' 2.35:1 ' If you're a fan of the first you will love this. | Vol 4 of Warners Excellent noir series has it's moments but Warners are stretching their definition of noir as Mystery Street(Police procedural)IllegaL (courtroom drama)The Big Steal(crime melodrama)and Crimewave(hardboiled cop thriller)cannot be considered real noir.

| The Amazing Mr. X (a `Samba Productions' release) sure doesn't promise much but goes on to deliver a little bit extra. Like the far more accomplished and haunting Nightmare Alley of the previous year, it deals with a phoney spiritualist racket. And, as in that earlier film, the supernatural wraiths and voices prove a poor match for the very natural greed and duplicity that operate on a deeper, darker level than the racket.
