There isn't much to say about this film really, it speaks for itself. Everyone should see this film in their lifetime. Just one small part of the story of the holocaust, yet touching and amazing that one man can do so much. We should all know a bit about this epically tragic period, why not let spielberg and neeson guide you through.

This story is both funny and Heartwarming, with teary moments inbetween. It starts with the gorky school girl, Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway), going through normal life with her wish to be invisible. But this wish is challenged when her estranged grandmother (Julie Andrews) arrives from Genovia with the hope that Mia will follow in her footsteps by becoming Princess of Genovia. Rambo Stallone's rock-climbing adventure is a guilty pleasure best seen while passing out in a drunken haze. If that's not your style, consider drinking copious amounts of alcohol to make it through the DVD hilarious commentary from Stallone and director Renny Harlin.

Recorded separately methinks, Harlin's commentary clearly shows that he thinks his work is phenomenal (it's not). He's an idiot and a bore.
Stallone seems reserved in his comments. That is, until the end when he talks about "psychic ... Read More:

No, no, no! I think Mr 'A Customer' also reviewing here picked up the wrong end of the stick, his video tape copy wasn't rewound due to the fact the couple watching it had to hit the sheets mid-movie after watching Michael Douglas and Demi Moore in their intimate clinch; the whipcrack of the g-string removal does stir the blood somewhat!
So, come on, Michael Crichton is no dispstick, and he's written more books-to-movie stories than most author's can wave a stick at, and someone has the gall to say it became boring? ... Read More:

5.Hook [1992] starring: Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins, Maggie Smith
directed by: Steven Spielberg
April 24, 2000

DVD : Hook [1992]
This film is an insult to the British. A terrible performance by Dustin Hoffman, one of Hollywood's "got lucky" boys. If he wants to ham it up, the local Pantomime would be more appropriate. I can't believe Speilberg did this. A complete waste of money and Bob Hoskins. A lifelong fan of Julia Roberts, I can't see any point in casting her. Surely Roberts and Hoskins must cringe at showings of this crass presentation. As for Dustin Hoffman, bring back Mrs. Robinson, he needs some more luck.

6.Schindler's List [1994] starring: Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, Jonathan Sagall
directed by: Steven Spielberg
April 12, 2004
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

DVD : Schindler's List [1994]
In telling Schindler's story the director chose black and white and the beginning intimates that it might be in the great tradition of 'The Third Man' etc. Unfortunately the film meanders astray into detailed descriptions of the holocaust and the dynamic of the film is lost. Instead of a tense 1 hour 50 minutes of cunning, guile and threat there are literal hours when almost everything is 'spelt out' in many long takes and diversions. The great film techniques of suggestion and inference are little used as almost every action is shown literally ... Read More:

Its been quite a number of years ago now but I do remember seeing the TV Adaptation of The Sculptress on BBC1.

I think the acting by Pauline Quirke, who played Olive Martin, was quite chilling and showed that she could move away from the role of Sharon she played in Birds of a Feather and other comedic roles she was used to. You were also convinced of Olive's innocence within the film.

But I do look forward to reading the novel version of The Sculptress to make comparisons between the TV Adaptation and the novel quite soon.

Needless to say, this "Die Hard on a mountain" is one of Stallone's best films up to date, with brilliant performances by Michael Rooker, John Lithgow, Caroline Goodall and Craig Fairbrass.

Alternatives:

Die Hard [1989], Die Hard 2: Die Harder [1990] The ones that started it all!

The cover looks horrible, the trailers were poor but the finished film is great, with decent acting, FX, Story this film is a great addition to Sylvester Stallone's Movie Career.

I owned this film on laserdisc - who remembers that format? - when it was first released. I thought it to be one of Ridley Scott's least interesting films - more or less an inferior retread of Dead Poets Society, in the vein of the equally unoriginal Dangerous Minds and Scent Of A Woman. There is a bit of eye-candy in the experience, though; both the landscape and the comely boys are rather easy on the eyes. And Ridley Scott knows how to compose his shots. So far, so average.

This DVD version of the film, however, is a cropped print of the original ... Read More:
