First, let me say, I was a huge x-files fan and went into this with my fan hat on expecting to really enjoy it. But it was a disappointment in every way.
The plot, weak, not at all x-files worthy, just a basic murder-killer plot for a stupid reason that isn't beleiveable, there was nothing actually supernatural, paranormal, or x-files-ish about any of it.
Mulder and Scully's relationship on the screen was awful, honestly, if they wanted to make it beleivable that the two of them had been ... Read More:

All I can say is WOW! this is one of the best films I have ever seen, none stop comedy from start to finish, especially in the character of clueless Morgan.
The whole muppet cat is magnificent. From this film I feel i have learn't a valuable lesson: the best thing about being a pirate is you don't have to wear a suit.

Maybe I'm mising something but this doesn't appear to be a 'director's cut' as advertised. I saw the film in the cinema and the DVD is just the same. Also the packaging states '....full length feature film, plus the directors cut version not seen in cinemas....' leading me to believe there are two versions but on the disc one menu it only gives you the choice of playing the film, not the director's cut.
If there is no director's cut then this is bad marketing on Fox's behalf.

I really enjoyed this movie, which worked for me on several levels, or at least across several generations. I was there in the seventies listening to bands like Strange Fruit, and the film got the feel of those times right. Now I'm an old geezer like the band members, and the film got the feel of that right too. Connolly as roadie was a good choice, providing a salty anchor for the sometimes thin narrative.

One thing that seems 'off' about the way the film was promoted is the praise heaped on Mick Jones ... Read More:

The Baudelaire children lead a cushy life of reading books, inventing, and biting. One day at the beach Mr. Poe informs them of the unfortunate event of their house and parents burning down. They are then shuffled around to various unrelated relatives. At every turn they are perused by their uncle Count Olaf, who covets their inheritance. Trying to explain this to grownups is almost impossible.

Grate narration of the movie by Jude Law; he added a dimension that made you want to see what was happening next. ... Read More:

I've never read the books, it seems that if you have and like them you're not going to like the film. But i loved the film! Funny, well acted by all (and considering i have a pathological dislike of child actors thats sayings something!) and well directed...

Great way to spend an afternoon!

General I am not the greatest fan of Tom Cruise (this is actually the only film of his I will willingly watch) but I am a great fan of Japanese history and culture and although this film makes Braveheart and 300 look historically accurate in places I still greatly enjoyed it and consider it to be one of my all time favourite films.

The film sees the drunken American Army Captain Nathan Algren hired by the modernising Japanese government to train their troops to fight the rebel Samurai leader Katsumoto. When Algren is captured ... Read More:

This DVD is thoroughly recommended. As one who watched the nine series when they aired on British TV and has watched the series on DVD several times since, this was the perfect follow-on to series nine. Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz have created another memorable X File experience.

There are so many reminders of the series: Mulder's sister, Skinner and Scully trying to find Mulder, pencils in the ceiling of Mulder's office, a reference to William, and Scully reaching for Mulder's hand in re-assurance. The hallmark low lighting of the ... Read More:

I was really looking forward to watching this as I had just been traveling around New Zealand and have to say i was pretty dissapointed. Billy seems to be the only one who laughs at most of his own jokes and he only seems to touch very slightly on the amazing places he visits. There was so much more they could have shown of NZ. Seems to me this was just an Idea hatched up to get Billy back on the road.

A clever title and with results a clever story.

This is no doubt a lovely version of Queen Victoria's life after Albert's death and the government pressure: as praised by many previous reviews.

The story may suggest infidelity, though I see a beautiful friendship, respect and above all loyalty. There is much to gain aside public's love of scandals. There is also Class division, identity, pride, honesty and power. A battle between the mind and heart of a powerful woman, who is struggling with courage and consequences.
