tried at least 5 times to get into this but couldn't get past the first 15 minutes. There are so many characters who only appear in disjointed, irritating little sections - as soon as you start to find one vaguely interesting, it switches to another. Some great names in this but what they were thinking of when they signed up to be in this

Based on the novel by Henry James, `The Wings of the Dove' is a beautiful film both in terms of locations, story and acting.
Helena Bonham Carter plays Kate Croy, who after being taking on as a ward by her Aunt Maude, is forced to meet illicitly with her lower class lover Merton Densher (played by Linus Roache). When Kate discovers that her new friend Mille (played by Alison Elliot), a wealthy American heiress is terminally ill, she sets about enticing Merton to seduce Millie in order for Kate and ... I love Bob Fosse’s work, but this movie was a disappointment. The dance numbers are OK, but the storyline is dull and pretentious. Essentially it seems to be a movie about Fosse made for Fosse with little thought for the audience.

What a great film made even better by the fact it was made on a shoe string budget by a team with 'Big Talent'. The location (New Forest)England and story line is surreal but something about it grips you to the end, tongue in cheek, dark humour says it all and the characters - amazing what you can do with a bit of hessian and a few zips.

DVD : The Jungle Book (Disney) (1967) [1968]
In one of Walt Disney's classics, Bagheera the panther offers to take Mowgli, a young boy, to the man village before the evil tiger Shere Khan gets to him.

This family adventure is a classic, made so by a beautiful sentimental plot about human emotions, including loyalty, sensitivity and most importantly love. And these human emotions are decoded through the animals of the jungle.

With the enchanting and fun loving actions of Baloo the bear and the honest and hard actions of Bagheera, ... Read More:

...where the ground is situated in deepest Australia and the satellite dish installlation receiving signals from Apollo 11 in July 1969 is run by none other than Sam Neill, who plays this to perfection. The juxtaposition of a small-town Australian backwater against Man's greatest achievement leads to some lovely and touching comedy, especially when NASA comes to the bush.

This is superbly well-acted, the soundtrack is excellent and the pace is slow, despite the rocket-propelled action going on 300,000 miles away.

The main problem most people have with this film is that far too many scenes are taken from 1967's Tobruk and to be honest I agree with them. Also, we don't really find out much about most of the soldiers and therefore don't sympathise as much when they bite the dust. It's also very difficult to tell who dies and who doesn't.
However, this film does have several saving graces in my opinion. First of all, this film has several sub-plots that differ from Tobruk, so I wouldn't really call it a rip-off. The film also is quite suspenseful in places. ... Read More:
