| The only problem with The Gangs All Here is the plot. It keeps getting in the way of the production numbers. Busby Berkeley manages to shoehorn four major numbers in the just the first 30 minutes, and he doesn't let up much after that. These numbers include everything Busby Berkeley could think of, from Benny Goodman swinging "Minnie's in the Money" to Alice Faye singing "No Love, No Nothin'" to some bizarre extravaganzas featuring lots of thighs, bananas and Carmen Miranda. | After years of being only available in a cut 94-minute version, Fox released both that and the original uncut 110-minute roadshow version on their Region 1 NTSC DVD, but sadly they've only seen fit to include the shorter version on their UK Region 2 DVD.

| To me, this was the first of the Fox DVD classics to actually disappoint. 'Alexander's Ragtime Band' is anything but a neglected masterpiece, but rather a quite annoying musical about the leader of a swing band (Tyrone Power who, sadly, has nothing better to do in this movie than just stand there waving his hands with the stick and smile harmlessly) and his on-off affair with a singer (pretty Alice Faye), and their best friend (charming Don Ameche) is the man caught in the middle. | Ok - I hadn't got a clue what this film was about - no synopsis and no reviews. Its 4 women doing their wartime turns for soldiers at different camps. There is no storyline and their acts are pretty dreadful. The star guests aren't that good either. There are 2 good moments in the film - one is Carole Landis singing lit up by lighters as the lights go out because of an air raid, and the other is Mitzi Mayfair dancing like a crazy woman - very entertaining (she can kick the back of her head and her legs go everywhere!). ...
