This is an awful adaptation. It bastardizes the essence of Shelley's novel. While the novel nurtures a moral dilemma at its heart, this destroys it. (This cannot be demonstrated better than when the monster rips out Elizabeth's heart, serving as an apt metaphor for the film ripping out the heart of the text). The sympathy for the monster which Shelley really draws on is completely undercut in the film by the monster's portrayal as a cold blooded murderer wanting an unjustified amount of revenge...it ignores the reasons ... I hadnt seen this film in twenty years but my memories of it were fond ones. As I recall this came out around the same time as the Killing Fields and I really thought us Brits would continue to make films of that scale and quality. Like all classics it has its minor flaws. Notably the peculiar casting of Robert De Niro, whilst his performance is good there's something about it that just doesn't sit right with me. On the other hand Jeremy Irons fits his role like a glove. The music the cinematography, the locations a real delight. ... Read More:

I find myself in total agreement with the comments of the first writer above. I too have read and bought the Dee Brown book many times and for the same reasons quoted above.
I did think, at last, something good to watch other than the usual fairy tale stories about this period of time in American history, but it was not so. Along with, and because of the gross misrepresentation of facts throughout the film, I have to say give this one a miss and save yourselves some money.
If you want a modern day western to add to your collection, ... Read More:

The story line is loosely based on a book by Alice Hoffman. It is more of the screen play by Robin Swicord who also did the screen play for "Matilda" (1996).

Sisters Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) are brought up by their maiden aunts after their parents died. They learn of magic and its pluses and minuses by observing their aunts from a distance. They also have to overcome (if possible) the family curse that the gentlemen in their lives are distending to meat an early demise. One highlight of the movie is when ... Read More:

It is hard not to focus on the cast the spotless performance by every single actor and actress in this movie. What makes Legends of Fall a must-watch film is the extraordinary story that lies within. The viewers will be gobsmacked by events that will shatter a family and reunite a bond of love that carries an unbearable ethical burden. This is not a straight-forward movie, by this I mean there are several issues going on at the same time, constantly intriguing the viewer, yet the way this movie is made manages not to confuse its audience.

If you're looking for a decent thriller to watch for a couple of hours then Blink is a good choice. It's not a spectacular movie, or one which you would probably want to watch again and again, but it is entertaining and worth seeing.

The best thing about this movie is Madeleine Stowe playing the blind woman, Emma Brody, who is given a transplant operation to help her see again. While her sight is returning she witnesses a murder committed by a brutal serial killer and becomes his next target. Stowe plays her character really well, making the blind scenes ... Read More:

Though the story line has been done so many times it's a great film. I'd seen this several times as a teenager and still think of it the same way. This movie really has less to do with Madonna and more to do with Rosanna Arquette.

It's hard to imagine anybody not coming across this film but if you haven't it starts out with Roseanna Arquette who plays Roberta Glass, a bored New Jersey housewife, who constantly follows the on-going relationship of Jim and Susan. One day, Roberta decides that she would really like to meet Susan, so she places an add in the ... Read More:
