| I ordered this for my 6 year old son ready for his show and share afternoon at school, not sure if it would be suitable for his age. He loved the book immediately and was able to read and understand the text confidently. What really caught his imagination were the maps in the back, of the continents and countries, and the animals, landmarks, etc... that could be found around the world. | My 12 year old son picked this up and read in from front to back in preference to playing computer games - says it all, really! He adored it, but was slightly upset that not all elements were represented. I suggested it would have made it too large and not in the excellent 'pocket book' category, but he is correct that it is not only the wierd and wonderful elements that are missing but some basic ones too. Any chance of a 'Periodic Table Book 2' to fill in some gaps?

| This map is the Mercator one which almost everyone sees and is good for navigation but is totally incorrect for showing the size of countries and continents. It shows Greenland to be about the same size of Africa when in fact, Africa is 13 times larger.
Everyone should look up Peters Projection on the web to realise this. |

| It is no exageration to say this book is EXCELLENT. I have bought one for all the little children who are special to me (christenings, etc) as it is truly the most fantastically crafted book. Its very deleicate so should only be given as a "for keeps" or read with mummy or daddy cos it would be a sin to have it spoiled. Every single person I have shown this to has been astonished at how fab it is, all pages have the main pop up then 2 or 3 smaller jsut as delecate pop ups. rave rave rave, sorry but I defy anyone to have anything ... Wasn't sure if it would be too old for him but its not its absolutely super and we read it every night together, he then looks at the pictures on his own and finds something he wants to learn more about the next night. I know he will use it for years to come as once he starts to read himself he will discover even more.
