| Julia Donaldson has a real flair for rhythms and rhymes and every book we own of hers our 2.5 year old son just adores. Nick Sharratt's illustrations are so colourful and charming that it is a joy to read this book every day which our son insists on every bedtime. I can't recommend it higher...it's just so good. | Bought these editions of "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" for my mother as it was a favourite book of hers when she was young. They are beautifully produced with the original Shepherd drawings very tastefully painted in in watercolours. Printed on pale yellow pages with a quality book binding. Overall these have a lovely feel and lovers of these rhymes will not be disappointed. I am very pleased I chose these editions and so is Mum! |

| This is one of the earliest books I remember from my own childhood. Now I have a child of my own I want to have it in the house again.
Beautiful illustrations to go with lots of classic nursery rhymes. |

| I bought this as a present for my 2 year old nephew and he loves it. He loves to share it with you and when he asks for it as tonight's bedtime story, his mum doesn't read it to him, he reads it to her from memory because he knows all the words. A great book. |

| My sister bought me this on a recommendation from a neighbour. I must say its a wonderful book with poems by various authors. There is a great mix of classic, modern, long and short poems. Some of them are absolutely hilarious and had us in stiches. We read it cover to cover as soon as we got it. It also has wonderful pictures. A must for young children and adults too! |

| Too many collections of poetry for children are rather patronizing and rather limited in their scope. My experience is that kids don't just want comic poems and/or poems about bodily functions or slugs. They really don't. Ted Hughes never wrote down to children and was passionate in encouraging poets of all ages.
